CD Reviews

Mmmm....good

"I'm not a fan of Christain music because it is usually too polished/holy for my taste, but I found Clear to be refreshingly satisfying. I can't add anything more to the previous reviews concerning Allison's great voice, wonderful instrumentation, intelligent lyrics, etc., I agree with it all. My $0.02 is that for some reason...listening to Clear makes me feel very good in a way that is hard to describe. I'm sitting at work now doing some pretty mundane technical stuff listening to clear, and I'm having a blast (laughs)! Perhaps this is what good music or a good book does, it lifts you up and takes you to another place, dare I say makes you want to be a better person...ok, perhaps I'm getting a little carried away. Anyhow, one last note, thanks to my wife for buying the CD for herself or else I probably would never have gotten a chance to hear it. Live long and prosper."
The very best CD I have ever heard

"Clear is the best band I have ever heard. I don't know if CDs can be worn out, but if they can mine is coming close. The lead singer Allison Ogren has a beautiful, crystal clear voice and the lyrics are about real things, not just the same old same old you sometimes get in Christian music. The song "Through My Window" is my all time favorite song. It is worth the cost of the CD alone. Every other song is great too. It is true that there isn't too much variety of sound, but it doesn't matter because Clear's sound is so cool!!"
Clear - truly an original

"Christian pop music generally holds little interest for me. The lyrics are too often shallow, set to music that is uninspiring. I heard Clear while streaming music from an i-Tunes Christian station one Saturday afternoon. The song was "Ready to Ride"; and it immediately caught my attention. I was able to track down the group and album with an Amazon search. Of course, the album is out of print, but there were used copies, so I immediately ordered one. A little more effort and I found that the group produced a second album, "Follow the Narrow", which I have also acquired (and review separately).

Clear is a wonderful collection of mostly acoustic pieces written and performed by group members. Allie Ogren has a clear (no pun intended), almost mystical voice, that makes the music come alive. I compare her to Twila Paris in Christian music, Michelle Branch in non-Christian circles. Allie is a delight as are the guys that back her.

When I found out that Clear had disbanded after the second album I was disappointed a bit. But then I realized that this is often how it goes in music and life in general. Things come together for a brief period and the atmosphere is sublime. But perfection in this world does not last. It is only in the world to come that blessedness is eternal. Clear lifts the heart and gives one hope. What more can we ask?"
