CD Reviews

The Clan keep doing what they do best!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"If the first two tracks on this single are any indication of what to expect on their forthcoming album slated for September 2003, then Ronny Moorings has taken a definitively darker industrial edge from the ambient melancholy electro-goth of Notes From The Underground. The title song "There's No Tomorrow (album version)" features arpeggiators reminiscent of Tones On Tail-Performance but it is Ronny's melodically satisfying vocals and sorrowful lyrics that easily elevate this single into one of the most memorable of any Xymox album. The second track, "Courageous," is even darker and more brooding in tone with Ronny's monotone droning. The third track "The Second Time" is much slower and lighter in tone that harkens back to the upbeat romanticism of the Clan's earlier albums ala Phoenix or Twist of Shadows and almost seems out of place by contrast with the agressive industrial motif of the other two tracks as well as the five extensive remixes of "There's No Tomorrow." Everyone has that one artist whose music captivates them and they hit just that right chord, as Clan of Xymox continues to do for me and is demonstrated by this exhilarating single. If you want a taste of things to come, "There's No Tomorrow" will leave you with agonizing anticipation for their next album tentatively titled "Farewell." Let us hope that the working album title is not suggesting that it will be the Clan's "Swan Song.""
The dark wave masters

"In 2003 the clan of xymox released Farewell and the album was a dark electro masterpiece! the single released from that album "There is no tomorrow" probably got more rotation on the dance floor than any other single from the lp! the lyrics for the single are lined with dark romaticism and pathos! but the re-mixes are brilliant!!

Especially the one from my favorite band "The Frozen Autumn". its the best re-mix on the cd single. and the b-side track "the second time" is classic Ronny Mooring with his melancholic cries and new romantic sound! this is a must for all COX fans!!!!!!!! and if you can get the actual 12 inch even better!"
