CD Reviews

Excellent!

"This is a re-issue of ASIN B00006JTGH with five additional tracks, and improved packaging!

The first three discs are identical to the previous release, while the fourth disc has five additiional tracks performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic conducted by James Fitzpatrick. The new tracks are from Die Another Day (two tracks: title song, and "Going Down Together"), as well as three tracks from the unofficial Bond films, the theme from Michel Legrand's Never Say Never Again, and two tracks from Burt Bacharach's Casino Royale.

Everything is performed wonderfully by the City of Prague Philharmonic conducted by Nic Raine and James Fitzpatrick, and electronic percussion added to the necessary tracks by Gareth Williams and Mark Ayres.

The "James Bond theme" even features the famed Vic Flick on guitar!

Until Silva updates this in time for the NEXT film, this is the definitive James Bond set!

Kudos to producer James Fitzpatrick, Engineers John Luard Timperley and Mike Ross-Trevor for making this spectacular release happen."
This Bonds For You!

"To coincide with the "Utimate Edition" James Bond DVD Box Sets released in 2006, comes this sterling 4-CD Box Set. If you're among those who favor the symphonic sound of the Bond films, this Bonds for you. Also, sure to be pleased with this pristine, HDCD 2006 release are audiophiles. Bond never sounded better!

The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra gets the kudos for adding lustre to the James Bond music. From "Dr. No" right up to "Die Another Day" the orchestra, conducted by Nic Raine and James Fizpatrick, gets it right.

There are two interesting bonus tracks. "The Look of Love" (one of the best cuts) from the "Casino Royale" spoof made in the sixties and the title track for "Never Say Never Again." Both are rarities. They come from the only Bond films made without the control of the Broccoli family. Both cuts are on CD 4.

Now to the CD's.

CD 1: Music from Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball and Dr. No

are featured. Has the Goldfinger theme ever sounded better? The answer is a resounding no. This is the best. Same goes for the James Bond Theme which opens this CD.

CD 2: Music from You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever and Live And Let Die are featured. This might be the best CD overall.

CD 3: The Man With The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy. Included is the terrific cut "Nobody Does It Better" from The Spy Who Loved Me.

CD 4: In addition to the bonus cuts we have A View To A Kill, Licence To Kill, Goldeneye and Die Another Day. The only weak CD, saved by the previously noted bonus material and a another great version of the James Bond Theme.

The Bond franchise is still going strong after 47 years. Fun films that happen to include some great music. I'm delighted to add yet another 5-Star rating for this highly recommended CD set.

Not what you may expect, but excellent!

"I guess I didn't pay enough attention, but I was expecting all the original theme songs by the original artists. Instead, I received so much awesome music beautifully performed by the Prague Philharmonic. This is a must if you are a die hard James Bond fan AND you like an occassional trip to the symphony."
