CD Reviews

Ex-Lax Metal
SkinSoreEyes | Toronto, Canada | 11/18/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Old, old, old school death metal. Pretty much lost to obscurity. I call it ex-lax metal as it is so heavy it will make you crap.

Don't expect any speed. Just down tuned guitars, guttural vocals and good decomposition.

For Death Metal purists it is a must have!"
Buried Doom-Death Talisman

"Why is this band so little known? Could it be because most music fans are so damn WEAK? This is a case of a band embodying total class to the detriment of hype or trendiness. The few times I've ever seen this band mentioned, they were compared to Celtic Frost. The CF influence IS there, but you could say that about ANY metal band worth its' salt that formed in the 90's. No, Cianide clearly have their own unique take on Death Metal. This is slower in tempo than most Death. All of the songs are slow to mid-paced. This is all about heaviness and it sounds like the guitars are tuned down to the key of Z or something. The vocals are raspy, cavernous groans and the riffs roil and churn like molten magma. Play this and you'll see giant cave-beasts sparring with uprooted trees while black-winged things soar overhead and volcanos spit flames into a grey sky. This is really a lost classic guaranteed to smite trendy ears."

"This is one hell of a death metal band!!! Heavy heavy bone crushing death metal!!! I like all of the songs on this album so I can't pick just one song to talk about! This also is my favorite album out of Cianide's other great musical offerings. This is what I think anyway. Cheack this album out and Cianide's other great bone crushing releases also! You can't go wrong with this group trust me! STAY BRUTAL!!!"
