Christene's music features simple melodies over standard chord patterns, but her genius comes through in her lyrics. Her songs are multi-layered mini-dramas, lushly crafted, and populated by real and sometimes quirky characters. Her themes are both common and off-beat, but always poignantly presented from a personal point of view. Only Christene can put you in the seat next to her on the #38 MUNI bus as she converses with the old woman travelling to Ocean Beach to scatter her husband's ashes ("Bus to the Ocean"). "Little Lighthouse" has excellent production qualities for an independently produced CD, and the mix captures the warmth of the small café venues where Christene often performs. Close your eyes, and it's easy to imagine yourself at the Skylight on Taraval or the Bazaar on Clement. If you like your songs to tell stories, you'll like Christene LeDoux and her music."
