Synopsis

Product Description
Frame the Clouds is the debut solo album of singer-songwriter Christa Wells, best known for penning Natalie Grant's hit crossover single Held. She was also named GMA Songwriter of the Year in 2006 and has had her songs recorded by other artists such as Plumb, Sara Groves, and Selah. Frame the Clouds is a collection of 11 original, previously unreleased songs, featuring Wells' Sara Mclachlan-meets-Natalie Merchant-style vocals, as well as performances by several of her artist-friends, including Sara Groves, Plumb, Todd Smith (of Selah) and her on-stage partner Nicole Witt. Her melodies have range and her lyrics are both poignant & candid, reflecting on relational themes from faith and family to loss, love and hope. The album opens with the popular You've Got a Home, a Jack-Johnson-esque tune of friendship: Here's a key to my front door, gotta pillow if you lost yours, you've got a seat at my table, you've got a home...Here's somebody who believes you, let truth remind you, you've always got a place to go to, you've got a home. In My Best Remedy, Wells writes to her children:Thank you for making me laugh today, you took me by surprise, thank you for catching me down at the mouth, you ambushed me with delight. A Thousand Things deals with loss and grief, acknowledging: the ache that doesn't go away while also pointing to the hope and comfort that come from sharing our stories with one another: So honey, wrap yourself in promise while you wait the morning light, a thousand things are happening tonight. Wells eloquently tackles the theme of forgiveness in Weightless where the singer confesses she's: carried this a long time in a well-hidden bundle on my back, but I've realized forgiveness is weightless, so I'll leave my burden on the track. Title track Frame the Clouds features esteemed singer-songwriter Sara Groves and speaks to the value and beauty of words in writing and relationship. All in, this album is one you will listen to from start to finish, savoring the poetic feast of lyrics that speak to the soul.
