Subject: I have found a CD that I think you would enjoy
Great record; truly, truly excellent guitar playing!
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Chris Proctor released his first album in 1983. It seems incredible that more people haven't heard of him in the 20 or so years he has been performing live. A former fingerstyle guitar champion truly worthy of his crown. He is a peer of Leo Kottke and other players in this class. You can hear diverse elements in his playing (classical technique, Irish music sometimes, good old American Folk and rock). There is something about his bass lines that makes it sound like maybe there's two guys playing instead of just one. I've seen written transcriptions of his songs, and they're pretty hard. He just plays them so clean. He has a lot control, and that helps you really enjoy his music because you aren't hearing pops and snaps all over the place like you do from some guys who play hard stuff. It just sounds like he's sitting on your couch in your living room pickin' away. He plays Taylor guitars, so you can often see him for free when he does workshops at guitar stores all over the United States. So go him when he comes to town, and buy this record. Get "Steel String Stories," too. Another excellent album."
