CD Reviews

A Classic!
11/30/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Although China White rarely comes to the top of anyone's head when thinking about the early 80's California punk scene, they are one of the best bands to emerge from it(and this includes such great bands as DI, TSOL, Circle Jerks, Adolescents, Social Distortion, etc.) The reason why they are so underrated is because they only released one album, and it is all but impossible to find, I can't beleive Amazon carries it. The album, entitled Dangerzone, is one of the classic albums of this era, right along with Group Sex by the Circle Jerks and Damaged by Black Flag, but it is better than either. The music is very fast, but not so much so that you can't keep up with the beat, and the vocals sound a little like Keith Morris. Every song is a classic, there are no boring parts to this album. The Flyboys ep is included, and even though it is a little slower and not quite as good, it has great melodies and it compliments the China White album well. Be warned-all of the other China White releases you will find are from the re-formed, post-1991 band, which are nowhere near as good and sound completely different. This is the one to own."
Old School

"This is Old School HB punk rock, plain and simple. It's 2 chord simple punk rock. Not one of my favorites, but I love it because it's a bit of Punk Rock history."
