CD Reviews

Welcome back Checkfield!
02/28/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"S. John Archer and Ron Satterfield have been away much too long! Getting a snippet or two of their music on each of the "Day Parts" CDs from American Gramaphone over the last decade was not nearly enough. "Music from Everglades National Park" represents a triumphant return! I have listened to this CD several times and savored every note each time. Tying Checkfield's music to the Everglades was a perfect match. Let's hope the wait for their next full-length CD isn't nearly as long."

"Having enjoyed the four American Gramophone CDs that Checkfield did (1986 - 1989), I have long wondered why they've been dropped from the A.G. catalog. Thus I was pleasantly surprised to find this album at Amazon and promtly ordered it.Checkfield listeners - they're alive and well. This album continues the series seamlessly. The dynamic and refreshing rhythms, melodies, and orchestrations are back as well as you've hoped. My thanks to the folks at Gallery Records and Checkfield for bringing this disk out for us all to enjoy!"

"I never thought Checkfields was going to release another cd. Boy am i glad i was wrong. I have four of their cd's including this one. Each one was my favorite before the next one is released. Ron & John i believed are very gifted and brilliant writers and musician. I just hope they continue to collaborate forever. Music from the everglades in my opinion is quite good but not as good as "the view from the edge". It's probably just me but i'm not too fond of the nature sound. Overall the cd is great. I enjoyed listening to it and i highly recommend it."
