"Well, I have an interest since John Paul (the original double bass player in the group) was my Father... so not a very 'objective' review but... well I actually do like it... this is 'skiffle', a kind of homespun Jazz originally played on Tea Chests, Washboards, broomsticks, and other 'made up' instruments... kind of 'punk jazz' of it's day I guess. Although this is with 'real' instruments, it has a real 'roughness' about it... not technically wonderful I guess, in any respect, but, hey, that's not what it's about... it's fast, it's fun, it's raw, and it swings! Well worth a listen... FYI -- as at Jul-99, John Paul died 8th Dec '94 of cancer, playing Jazz until 2 weeks before his death, Marc Sharratt (the washboard player) died in a car crash after a reunion concert in Europe a couple of years before that... Chas McDevitt is still going strong, still smiling, still making music! And after all, that's what it's all about! Regards to all - Matthew Paul"
