Interesting early chet baker- late charlie parker recording
(4 out of 5 stars)
"interesting be-bop; jitterbug recording, baker's second known recording, among the last for bird. music here not as good as savoy records with bird and miles- but well worth a look. sound quality very good for live recording of this period (1952).Baker considered his brief association with Parker the turning point of his uneven career. A must for trumpet players, Bird fans, and jazz historians. The remaster is very fresh- makes one yearn for more; however, I believe only one more session with Bird and Chet was cut, and I haven't located it. Certainly no Doc Severinsen or Maynard Ferguson- Baker's alternative style is unique and recommended."
