CD ReviewsA long, tough but rewarding journey! Stephen | Virginia Beach, VA USA | 10/26/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "Gayle seems strongest in a trio format (actually two bass players here)without piano. This is a little less focused than the "Touching on Trane" set. Though both are essential Gayle. While the Trane set features more looks back to Trane as a model The Knitting Factory sets find Gayle stretching out in Ayler territory. Songs are basic and titles reflect a spirituality similiar to Ayler. And like Ayler, all this serves as a jumping off point for intense group and solo improvisations."
