CD Reviews

Funk n' Disco for the 21st Century

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Charles Feelgood is one of the top US DJs! This particular outing displays the N.E. US House sound that seems to pull from disco, Motown, and funk. If you are a house music fan and you slipped off the couch falling asleep to the cozy deep house sounds of 2001 then get back on the dancefloor with some 21st century disco power!C.F. starts this set with a stand up comedians monologue(that'll get you laughing), works through some great funky disco tracks, and peaks toward the end with some nice driving basslines. A great musical structure with a nice ending payoff; you FeelGood listening to this one.BTW, catch Feelgood live if he comes your way you won't be disappointed."
Thumpin' from Mr. Feelgood

"One of two titles released so far by Charles Feelgood, this is the better of the two. "Can You Feel It?" is the perfect title for this album. The beat of this is really up tempo. Not so fast as to qualify for hardhouse, but definately some of the fastest progressive house I've heard. The cd comes out the blocks fast with "Come on Home" then backs it with "Blue Boogaloo." These two cuts should let you know this is gonna be a high energy, thumpin' cd. "Sunday Shoutin" is my other favorite on this cd. If you like pounding, upbeat, house music that's just a little more aggressive than typical progressive house music, then this cd is one you'll want to try on for size."
Great House Mix

"Moonshine Records has put out another great DJ album. With mainstream Moonshine artists like DJ Dan putting out techno mixes, and Carl Cox mixing up house classics, Charles Feelgood is a much welcomed member to the Moonshine team. While some house DJ's put together mixes that have too much of a disco feel, and an overabundance of pop/disco singing, Charles Feelgood has spun up a collection of house beats, with just the right touch of disco flava'. He also thankfully avoids sampling the same line over and over, which I find can be a problem with many DJ's. This album starts out strong with Gene Farris's highly entertaining song, "Come On Home." It then transitions its way along nicely through a good collection of lesser known, but awesome house tunes, making a notable exception to mix in the London House favourite "Sunday Shoutin'" by Johnny Corporate. The CD ends with DJ Feelgood's premier single "Dial 611." Unfortunately his track writing ability isn't as strong as his mixing talent, and this album could have ended on a stronger note. "Dial 611" isn't a bad tune, it just doesn't stand out like most of the other selections on "Can You Feel It." All in all, this is a great album. If you're a big fan of Trance or Drum and Bass, and you think you don't like house music, this is a perfect cross over album that trance and house aficionados can both fully appreciate. It also would work perfectly at a house party where people have the need for some booty shakin'. Buy it!"
