Synopsis

Album Description
From the moment that Charity Von's silk and suede voice caresses your ears, your mind tells you that there is no way that it is coming out of a 19-year-old. The soul-infused rock and pop that make up her self-titled debut, combined with the richness of her voice, sounds ? musically and lyrically ? like it should be coming from someone who has lived a few more years on this planet. From the outright rock that is "The Narrow", "Shine" and "The Message" to the neo--soul-infused "Take Me Through It" and "I Believe in Miracles", to the passion-- filled "You Make It Fine" and "I?ll Be (The Pleasure?s Mine)", Charity Von heralds the arrival of Christian music's newest powerhouse.

CD Reviews

Wow!

"Listening to most current Christian popular music is like being forced to eat an entire loaf of white bread. This CD is the kind of feast Christian music is missing. Von's voice was apparently borrowed from a 50 year old chain smoking blues singer from Memphis. It is absolutely amazing-I simply haven't heard a voice like it in a long time. The tracks on this debut CD go a long way toward complimenting and showing off her vocal talents. "Take Me Through It" is simply fun to listen to, "In Your Presence" is a straight-forward and moving worship piece, and the cover of "Shine" is probably better than most covers you have heard.

I sincerely hope she can remain outside the mainstream sound of the rest of Christian pop music and continue to deliver thoughtful and powerful blues/rock styling to a table that desperately needs some flavor.

"I am not much of a female vocalist fan. But when I heard this cd, I became a Charity Von fan. She has a comparitvely deep as well as strong voice. I randomly receive several cd's a year. Only a few which have females to begin with. But only two have I liked. Plumb and Charity Von. She co-wrote most of the songs on this cd. And delivers a fabulous version of Collective Souls's "Shine". If you like the Pretenders, Pat Benatar, Joss Stone, or Sheryl Crow, you will like Charity Von."

"I had heard some of Charity's songs on the radio before I saw her perform at WAY Radio's annual beach concert on Jekyll Island last November. After hearing her perform live I was hooked and just had to buy her CD. I still listen to it often.

Charity has a strong powerful voice. In many ways her voice reminds me of Bonnie Raitt and Wynonna Judd. You can feel the passion and power in her voice. Play it loud.

I like every song on the CD. Take a listen and I think you'll agree that it is a great CD.
