CD ReviewsChalkdust - Excellent a modern calypso classic markatty@ix.netcom.com | New York | 01/09/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "If you think calypso is "Yellow Bird", take a listen to this. Chalkdust is one of the most political calypsonians, but also a good singer. At times sounding like a Carribean Nat King Cole. Great rhythm, but also really interesting lyrics, who else would take both NYC Mayor Giuliano and the Port of Spain Carnival Committee to task on the same CD.This is modern calypso, with good production values, great back-up singers and musicians and even a synthesizer. It's still great dance party music, but you'll find yourself trying to follow every word among the explosion of sound as Hollis Liverpool, an occasional school teacher and world class calypsonian, slings barbs at NYC, black Americans, Trindidad & Tobago and other Calypsonians, that have are polluting :) the art."
