Rising some 500 feet above the city's roofs and church steeples, one of Montreal's proudest landmarks is St. Joseph's Oratory on Mt. Royal. The carillon of 56 bells is one of the largest in North America. Originally intended for the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the bells were given to the shrine in 1954.
Carillonneur Claude Aubin is also the founding director of the Oratory's adult choir and performs at the carillon regularly for thousands of pilgrims.
