One of the defining artists in the "bootleg scene", Cassetteboy are actually "Mike" and "Simon", two lads from Brighton with a sick obsession for cutting up pieces of popular culture and re-assembling them in as subversive a manner as possible. In their own words: "Basically we record famous people and make it sound like they're talking about sex or drugs. It's a winning formula." Embraced by Sleaze Nation magazine, XFM?s James Hyman and the trendy "Hoxton" crowd, their underground mix CDs ("The Parker Tapes" and "Inside a Whale?s Cock") and seven inch records ("Di and Dodi Do Die" and "Picasio") are now infamous. DJ Yoda popularized their Jamie Oliver mash-up "Joliver" on his Essential Mix for Radio 1. For their first legal mix CD on Antidote they have trawled through Sanctuary?s video and music collection, and come up with something completely original. Equal parts offensive, hysterically funny, intricate and clever, "Mick?s Tape" will make listeners sit up and pay attention, if nothing else.
