CD Reviews

A MUST HAVE ! ! ! !
Enoc Burgos Gandara | La Ceiba ,Honduras | 04/23/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Well, to start off I'm Latin, Honduran. I've been listening to Cuban music all my life cause' my dad used to live there for a while. As a kid I grew up listening to it every Sunday. I've listened to Eliades Ochoa, Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo and all the Buena Vista Gang. BUT, Carlos Puebla is Exquisite !!!With an open mind and an eager heart you can almost feel the revolution taking place as Carlos puebla and the Tradicionales lived it in their time.
The beat is contagious and the story telling is exact. Its melancolic, funny and exciting as you hear tale by tale how it happened.
I just found out that this album was on CD , you see I only had the Original Tape that my dad brought back in 1972 and with alot of care it still plays perfectly. Although if I recall correctly the album's name was "... Y En eso Llego Fidel" , but nevermind, the songs are the same, that i remember. TRUST ME ! if you have a passion for Cuban music, you're gonna LOVE THIS CD!! you won't regret it. honest..."

"Well, to start off, im latin, im Honduran. I've listened to Cuban music all my life cause' my dad lived there for a while. I've heard just about everything from Compay Segundo, Eliades Ochoa, Ibrahim Ferrer and all the Buena vista Gang. But Carlos Puebla is exquisite. With an eager mood and an open heart you can feel the revolution taking place in Cuba just as Carlos and The Tradicionales felt it back in the their time. The beat is contagious and the their story telling is exact. I just found out that the this album was on CD , because the only version I had was on Standard Tape which my dad brought from Cuba back in 1972 and fortunately with alot of care it still plays fine.
Although I remember that the album was called, "... Y en eso llego Fidel" , but nevermind, the songs are the same. The album is melancolic, intresting, and somewhat funny (if you read abit of what exactly happened and what each song is about)TRUST ME, IF YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR CUBAN MUSIC, you will LOVE THIS CD!!! honest.. P.s. If you like this kind of traditional music, you should check out another good artist called CArlos Mejia Godoy y los de Palacaguina from Nicaragua. Its really good. Although I'm not sure if Amazon has it, but if they don't just have someone buy it for you down in Nicaragua, you'll find him there for sure. :)"
