CD ReviewsRefreshing and new Yolanda | San Juan, PR USA | 07/14/2000 (3 out of 5 stars) "Finally, after years of searching, there is a commercial recording of Ernesto Cordero's Concierto Antillano. I was fortunate to attend the world premiere of this work years ago and have been searching for a recording of it ever since. Barbosa-Lima, as expected, executes it with mastery. It is sad, however, that the Sofia Soloists provide such a bland accompaniment. This is Latin music, meant to be played with rhythm and gusto. The rest of the album is, for the most part, thoroughly enjoyable. I must say, however, that the Handel piece is somewhat out of place with the rest of the program. All in all, the CD is a worthwhile acquisition."
