"Abel has tended to be dismissed as significant composer and relegated to a secondary rank. However, in listening to these four flute concerti, it would appear that such treatment is undeserved, and that Abel is one of those composers who for some inexplicable reason falls through the cracks and is largely ignored. Such fate is unjustified, as this CD will demonstrate."

"The four flute concertos by Carl Friedrich Abel recorded here prove that he is a very talented composer. Baroque continuos flow and classical lightness are mixed successfuly in these works. The balance flute/strings in the recording is perfect. Like some other composers from the period, Abel should be known better. This CD provides a very strong argument."
