Synopsis

Album Description
2008 two CD archive release containing tracks recorded live at various shows during the Captain's many trips to the UK between 1970 and 1980. Between the late 1960's until the early 1980's Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band made regular visits to Great Britain to perform. During this time Captain Beefheart built up a loyal British fanbase through his exceptional album releases and his even more exceptional and avant garde concert appearances around the country. This CD captures a selection of songs during those concert appearances from the Captain and his Magic Band. The recording quality varies as we have tried to include an "across the board" range of material from the Captain's live shows. 24 tracks. Ozit Recordings.

CD Reviews

Okay, Ozit - enough already!

(2 out of 5 stars)

"A lot of people have been condemning this label for their questionable treatment of Beefheart's material (and probably justifiably so); but until now, I've been willing to forgive the uneven (and sometimes poor) sound quality, the complete lack of liner notes/credits, the incorrect track listings, etc., because like a lot of CB fans, I'm just happy to hear anything by the Magic Band that I haven't heard before. With this release, however, Ozit/Morpheus have really, really scraped the bottom of the barrel. The worst source tapes so far, no notations of live dates/places at all, and a track listing that I estimate only represents a little over half of the material actually on the cd. Ozit/Morpheus, it would appear you're out of Beefheart material to sell. I'm done."
