Capone- Pain, Time and Glory
Constant | Vancouver, BC Canada | 07/12/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Queen's rapper Capone (AKA Kiam Holley) debut solo album is "Pain, Time and Glory" (2005). It's been over eight years since the duo of Capone-N-Noreaga (CNN) made their entrance in the rap game with "The War Report". Noreaga got three solo albums out, while Capone has spent a lot of time behind bars. The two reunited for a second album, and Capone has dropped some heat while doing guest appearances & mixtapes over the years. After making his intro, Capone starts things off with "What's My Name" (Soldier's Story). Capone talks to his love on the heartfelt "All 4 U". The first real standout on this album for me though is ""No Where To Run", Capone and Scarface combine for a deadly not to be missed collaboration. Capone reflects on tracks like "It's Been A Long Time" the deep "Ill Die For Mine" feat. Complexion and "Miss My Dogs". The first real banger that I am feeling is "Streets Favorite", Capone rhymes with hunger and delivers another memorable track. My favorite track is the album's closer, Capone shines while dropping some very on point rhymes on "Faith In The Streets". While there are a number of standouts on this album, there are also some let downs, production and guest appearances on a number of tracks are simply not up to par. I would of loved to see Capone include some of his outstanding material like "Throwback", "Lost Soldiers" and "Look at My Life" on this album. At same time I am happy to see that he got "Pain, Time and Glory" out, that in itself was a major accomplishment."
Very Solid solo after half of a decade of waiting -- 4.5 sta

(4 out of 5 stars)

"For starters I must say it's closer to 5 stars then 4, and should have given it a 5 star rating not the 4. After 5 years plus of push back dates Capone finally releases his solo debut album. Not as good, but very close to, the Capone-N-Noraga albums, but on about equal or slightly better then Nore's 1st 2 solo joints & much better then his 3rd. Finally after the long wait Capone gets his solo out to the streets, and it is a good albuim. Packed with 17 new songs (1 I have heard before), 3 are almost classic material (bit ablut 4 or 5 are very close as well), 2 are ok, 1 I skip, and the other 11 are good or great songs. Guests are on 7 songs, and rap on 5, so you get a lot of Capone on hear. Sadly enough no Nore or the Millitainment crew is on here, but some good guests, and alot of them are from the south. He introduces his crew, Da Block Militia, on this one on a solid song. Production is good. Heatmakerz & Screwface Music Corp each do 4 songs, SPK, & Frank Nitti each do 2, Dulo Z, DJ Twinz, Reefa, Karado & Roots, DJ Absolut & Frado all do 1 song. A good album to have for his fans or fans of QB rap.

#2 - 8.5 (short but solid intro)

#3 - 8.5

#4 - 7.5 (f/ C-Murder & Bun B of UGK)

#5 - 7.5

#6 - 8 (good story)

#7 - 8 (f/ Scarface -- about their hoods)

#9 - 9.5 (f/ Raydon Coleman)

#10 - 9 (great dirty song --- f/ Devin the Dude & Butch Cassidy)

#11 - 9 (f/ Da Block Milita)

#12 - 9 (f/ Complexsion)

#13 - 9 (about your Do's & Dont's)

#14 - 9.5 (f/ Meckey Memphiz Wright)

#15 - 9 (deeper song)

#17 - 9 (also on "Code of the Streets" compilation)

#18 - 9.5 (f/ Raekwon)

#19 - 5.5 (the only 1 I skip on here)

#20 - 9 (another deep song)
