"This album is a must.Carreras -everyone knows- is an all-time champ tenor. In music as well as in life. To talk about the unique quality and beauty of his voice is a common place. To remark the he delivers his music is also a waist of time, for all those who have heard him singing Cordiferro's classic "Core'ngrato" and ,of course ,the 'Improviso" of Giordano's "Andrea Chénier" known he 'owns' these two pieces. But it is in the vast field of Spanish Zarzuela and spanish sung ofFreire,Grever,Padilla,Ginastera,Mompou and many others that Carreras is number one. The selection in this serious production reminds the repertory of the toast of Spain:Tito Schipa . Here Carreras excells for he transmits us the very soul of this music nowadays so rarely played and sung. He produces each word of the in a way that constitutes a synthesis of all great interpreters of the past in this genre(Ortiz Tirado,Pedro Vargas,Tito Guizar, and so on. It's a real pleasure to this Carreras song recital."
