The Buzz on Buzz Feiten
Richard L Hedrick | San Pedro, CA United States | 12/20/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I discovered Buzz Feiten many years ago when I saw him sit in on one of Michael Ruff and Friends shows (a West Coast song writer and performer). Michael Ruff was one of my favorites at the time. Being a session musician, he always had the best musicians sitting in. Snuffy Walden (does the guitar music for West Wing, Wonder Years, Thirty Something, etc..) was a regular guitar player with Michael Ruff at the time, so I was hoping to see him. But this guy, Buzz Feiten, was sitting in instead. Wow, was I blown away! Buzz was my new favorite guitar player. Anyway, since then I have been collecting everything he plays on. This album is a departure from the type of music I am used to hearing Buzz play. This is sort of 'countryish' and rockish. Normally I hear him playing fusion/blues type stuff. The album is musically great. The arrangements are very pro. Only a musician with years of experience can arrange all the different guitar parts with such perfection. The solo's are really quality also. My only complaint is, and this is only for me, that I wish there was more soloing over the album. I want to hear Buzz make that guitar sing has much as possible. To some it up, I love the album and listen to it all the time. I just can't get enough Buzz. He is still one of my favorite guitar players and I wish he was making more music these days."
Best guitar player in the business

"Take it from me, I'm in the business and we all know about Buzzy and his talents. Very few can match his ability. If you are an aspiring guitarist, I recommend you buy every thing he has recorded and study it. If you like great music with taste, bite, funk, blues, jazz, pop, soul, fusion, ambience and perfection, then Buzzy is your man...too bad Neil Larsen dropped off the planet. It would be nice to see them do another Full Moon LP."
History of Buzzy
. | Chicago, IL USA | 03/22/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I went to see the Paul Butterfield Blues Band for the umpteeth time, back in Chicago to play a middle-size auditorium in Evanston, late 60's. Still not happy that Bloomfield wasn't in the band, I'd finally accepted the fact that the band was fine with Elvin Bishop stepping up to the plate, much improved as the only guitarist. We get to the show, and Elvin's not there!, with a kid who looks to be 15 standing on -stage with a guitar in his hand, (I believe Buzzy was actually a younger-looking 18 at the time), in his place. Is this a roadie? We are -steaming- at the cruel joke, until the band begins to play: Feiten made us forget our previous guitar heroes,(at least for a couple of hours), and has continued to prove himself to be the most adept of that bunch. Feiten and Jesse Ed Davis are the two great unknown lead guitarists. Feiten, however, is alive, so see him if you get the chance."
