Despite nearly five decades (from 1960 to present) of musical activity, Bunky Green?s meager discography consists of no more than 32 separate sessions. Green?s discography can be divided into two separate periods: his emergence in Chicago (1960-1967), and his reemergence in New York (1976-2004). This edition showcases his finest recordings from the earlier Chicago period. Features two complete albums: Playin' For Keeps and Testifyin' Time. 17 tracks total. Lonehill Jazz. 2007.

"I briefly played with Bunky in the sixties. He absolutely knocked me out with his technique. This CD is a "two for one" gold mind. It combines "Playin' For Keeps," and "Testifyin' Time" originally issued on the famous Chess label. It was engineered by the great Ron Malo.

Every song is gold and screams a jazzy soulfulness rarely heard by any other altoist, period!

Bunky is really highly underrated and very special. Buy this for your collection, You will not be disappointed."
