CD Reviews

Simply Great Melodic Pop
David Layman | Marietta, GA USA | 09/15/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"So many reviews... Bottom line: I love this album. Will you like this album? Well, do you like 60's and 70's era pop music? Do you enjoy hearing an expertly crafted song? Do you like great melodies and hooks that have you singing the songs for the rest of the day? Then you probably will love this too. One of the most refreshing things about this album is its honesty and unapologetic optimism. There's no biting commentary or cynicism or looking-down-your-nose at society here. Just a guy singing about life, love and the ups and downs that come along with it. Brent Cash is a great songwriter and he crafts these songs the old fashioned way - a way that doesn't go out of style - creating something that will be enjoyed, cherished, loved and listened to years to come. Give it a listen."
A modern melodic pop masterpiece!

"I love this ten song album by Athens, Georgia's Brent Cash. Bright melodically inventive modern sunshine pop with roots sunk deep in the best of the 60s most eloquent purveyors of the same: Bacharach, Brian Wilson, Millenium, Sagittarius, the Fifth Dimension, etc. This is great medicine for the melancholy, try some today it's much healthier than all the Prozac on the planet and twice as effective."
An Incredible Musical Journey.

"I bought this album on LP and I loved it from the minute it began. It's something that has been missing in the music industry for many years. A catchy, lyrical pop experience. Sure, there are songwriters & songs that have presented similarities to what's presented here over the past few decades. But, this album has a cohesive feel that has been missing for some time.

Many of the reviews I've seen suggest it's excellence is based in it's similarities to music from the 60's & 70's. I find that partially true. What it has in common with works of those eras is the craftsmanship & artistry that was give to the songs...even innocuous three minute odes to love. On This Album, Brent Cash delivers songs like 'Only Time', 'Everything That's Grey' 'Digging The Fault Line' and 'Good Morning Sunshine' that display a similar creative mindset. Even my current favorite 'This Sea, These Waves' displays all the vibe of a classic Bossa Nova song by Jobim. But, there are also songs that defy the "Sunshine Pop" label like 'And Had We Ever', 'More Than Everything' and the incredible duet 'Love Is Burning Down Tonight'.

All in All, this album is a rare find. A musical Gem. It has something for the music lover in all of us. Check it out...IMMEDIATELY."
