Produced by Something For Kate's Paul Dempsey, The Gleaner is the debut long player from talented Melbourne singer-songwriter Brendan Welch. Brendan doesn't come from a music family. In fact, he didn't pick up a guitar until he was 17. He went to university to study painting and dropped out five weeks later. Brendan still paints, but now does artwork for his CDs. After quitting uni, Brendan started learning Radiohead songs, before his brother told him to stop singing so high. Then Brendan heard Tangled Up In Blue. He started to explore the works of Dylan, Johnny Cash and the old bluesmen.
