CD Reviews

Cool debut but could be even better

"I saw Brazilian Girls first at an outdoor concert at Thompkins Square in September and I was very impressed. I bought their promo CD and was totally addicted to their music. They sing in German, French, Spanish and English. Music is very catchy, a bit melancholy but very powerful. I bought their first EP as soon as it came out. "Lazy Lover" is beautiful. It's the best thing to listen to when you lie in bed in the morning... But there are basically only 3 songs, plus two remix of "lazy lover." The first is still good, but Herbert's seems like a sidejob favor--sounds exactly like from dani siciliano's last album and has nothing new. They could have left it out. I heard they are going to release their first full-length album next January. I'm very looking forward to it. I think they are definitely going to be big.

P.S. They used to play live at Nublu every sunday night."
Soooooooooo Gooooooood!

"I love it! All 5 tracks are special to me because I adore Brazilian Girls and their unique, boldness and genius songwriting strategies. The front cover photo is fun and attracted me write away. Actually, this item is still in my amazon shopping cart as I write this.

Since I don't own the band's debut album yet, I presume tracks 1, 2 and 3 are from there. Track #4 is super and I'm ever so happy to have found this single while shopping today for music. Hopefully BG will release a 3rd album and lots of singles, for their music touches me exactly where music should. In fact, this single is good enough to record onto my SONY minidisc player for near-future listening pleasure.

Sabina's voice is obviously fun to play around with, and I like the way they toyed with it on track 5, for it's really been electricized, looped and transformed. Tracklist is as follows:

01- Lazy Lover - 3'59 (Lyrics by: S. Sciubba - Music By: Brazilian Girls)

02- Sirenes De La Fete - 4'30 (Lyrics By: S. Sciubba - Music By: Brazilian Girls)

03- Pussy - 4:07 (Lyrics By: S. Sciubba - Music By: Brazilian Girls / C. Gayton)

04- Lazy Lover - Brazilian Girls' FreeMix - 5'21

05- Lazy Lover - Herbert's Busy Lover Mix - 5'13 (Remix And Additional Production By: Matthew 'Mixing' Herbert - Recorded at: Macrophony)

The fuschia-colored CD with black & white aztec Font & artwork is housed in a slimline jewel case with an insert. Most of the time, a slimline traycard (booklet) won't contain any information on the interior of the two-fold insert. But this insert contains band info, credits, website and band members names, as well as other production info."
