"I just purchased Sony's 2-CD set of Walter's recordings of the four Brahms symphonies with the NYP at a FNAC store here in Paris for 6 euros. The sound is truly remarkable for the early 1950s.

I seethat Naxos has released these same sessions in a 4 CD set that includes some of Brahms' other orchestral works. Given Naxos' care in remastering, that may be an excellent alternative to a plane ticket to Paris."
