Synopsis

Album Description
In 1967, 1968 & 1969 the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band recorded no less than 13 sessions for Radio 1. Seven for Top Gear, two for Saturday Club, Two for Symmonds on Sunday, one for Dave Lee Travis & one for Radio 1 Club. The cultural range of these programs demonstrates the width of the audience for the Bonzos' unusual tomfoolery. Includes the classic 'Monster Mash' & two versions of Bonzos' trademark 'I'm The Urban Spaceman Baby', one with full band & one acoustic version by Neil Innes from 1986. 20 tracks. 2002.

CD Reviews

Esoteric, Eccentric and 100% Doo Dah

(5 out of 5 stars)

"While you might imagine you have quite enough Bonzo Dog in your record collection, you might be surprised to find that you're actually one short. This fantastic compilation of recordings from BBC Sessions that stretch over the decades since the late 1960s provide some true gems of Viv Stanshall genius backed up by the lyrical workings of Neil Innes, and the varied and entertaining contributions of the rest of the band. While you may find yourself thinking that you've heard these tracks before, subtle differences in timing, delivery, instrumentation and presentation make every track an engaging surprise."
