CD Reviews

Very Satisfying Purchace..

"After hearing bonkers 3, and 4. By complete luck I ran into this at my local CD shop, After draining my wallet 29 dollars, I must say it was well worth the hefty price tag, With three DJ's doing three seperate CD's in one bundle, I was more than satisfied with my purchace. The first CD i listened to Is Dougal. Starting off with a very fast buildup of what you are in the mood for happy hardcore. The cd slowly progresses into various sound styles from Breaks and Beats, to full on 140BPM through the whole CD. This was my Favorite mix out of the threee. The Second CD I listened to was Hixxys mix. Although very similar to Dougals style, it had a definitive melodic sound, almost trancy. Hixxy did a small cover of Soft Cells "tainted love" towards the end of the CD. Sy's Mix is what made me not rate this Set a perfect 5 stars. While good at scratching, Sy goes a little overboard, and tries too much to make his mix more DJ friendly, by doing a small section of one of his tracks having a "Every body say hey! Everybody say Hooo!" type of thing, with no back up vocals. At one point he sampled TLC's "no scrubs" and Maddona's "Beatifull Stranger" which kind of turned me off the whole vibe he was building up to. Not one of Sy's best Mixes but still quite nice. Having a couple of anthems thrown in to the mix like: Tsunami, and My Way. This is an Essential buy for the happy hardcore fan."
Ok, i changed my views

"After listening to this cd for a few weeks, i changed my opinions about it.Hixxy: Has some really up-lifting melodies in his mix. It dont get really fast, and just about all the songs have the same beat pattern, but just the energy you get off of it makes up for it.Dougal: His mix didn't have that many good songs on it, but there are a tad few. The mix has really good build-up to it and its mixed fairly well, not as good as his other mixes though.SY: Probobly the best mix. I loved the scratching, but there were many parts in songs that he could have scratched more. What I didnt like about it is how the songs go from an up-lifting melody, to a deep melody, just back and forth like through the whole mix. Overall, it was a good cd and its good that Hixxy came back!"
