CD Reviews

No doubts here !! FIVE BIG STARS !!
Jazzcat | Genoa, Italy Italy | 02/15/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"No doubt this is one extremely beautiful recording. I can't believe noone reviewed it before me. It's a musthave, no less. This date happened in Italy in the early eighties or late seventies, I can't remember. It happened thanxs to Bobby and some very talented italian jazz players, and thanxs to the very clever italian jazz label Red Records. This is one of those special records that the first time you listen to you think "it's magic" and every time you listen to it you find yourself thinking "wow, what a swing, what an interplay .. it's way better than what I remembered .. " .. It's a magic date. With a fantastic swing all around but with special solos from Bobby and from his italian pals. The format is the traditional trio plus sax as main solo voice (piano, doublebass and drums). I think you all know that Bobby is a spectacular parkerian, very deep musically, with a particular singing quality in his solos ... I love his alto playin', he's a marvel! One of the greatest "new" talents! Fantastic jazz, fantastic music is contained inside this "appointment" believe me. Absolutly a musthave. I repeat, ABSOLUTLY a musthave, no less. I'm serious. I own all the best jazz cd's ever, you can trust me. Great Jazz has been played also for little european labels like Red, Steeplechase etc. Dont' buy only OJCs or Bluenotes. Italian red is a great colour too!! Thanxs BOBBYYYYYYYYYY for this music! Another album I may suggest is a live album Bobby recorded in Europe in the nineties with italian piano marvel DADO MORONI (can't remember the title right now) .... another impresive modern jazz album which excells for swing and interplay!!"
