"The Jolly Beggars" and much more from Robert Burns & Co.

"This CD is much more than a curio. ("Shostakovich"? Heck, why not; Burns's appeal is worldwide, isn't it?) It contains the cantata "The Jolly Beggars" (a/k/a 'Love and Liberty') and more. I'd say the CD is worth it for "Beggars," but the remaining music is first-rate, as you'd surmise from the composers here, and is utterly delightful. This one goes beyond borders and definitions, and I think ol' Rabbie (NOT "Bobby"! ouch!!) would be proud. Highly recommended to fans of Burns, Scottish and folk music, and classical music, and yes, plain old good music."
