Once Upon A Little Village

(4 out of 5 stars)
"Once upon a time, Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe, & Jim Keltner formed a band called Little Village, only Bob Telson already owned the name. The super group wanted the name, so Warner offered Bob a recording contract, in exchange for giving the name to the super group. Unfortunately, Bob forgot to include a marketing campaign with the contract and nobody ever supported the release of a truly unique and delightful collection of songs, informed by Bob's world music career, and special contribution from greats like K.D. Lang. It's an incredible album, but nobody knows about it and for the most part - he was lucky to be given the release opportunity in the first place. The funny sad part is - this album is so much better than the end result of the super group Little Village. This one should be given another chance - but the smart money is on going after the low priced copies on the open market - while they last."
