Search - Bob Mintzer & Gil Goldstein :: Longing

This is our first full fledged musical encounter. As a result, I have become aware of a side of Bob that I didn t know so well; his introspective and intensly lyrical side. There s no nicer way to have been able to work with him for the first time than in this one to one situation, because that s where I feel that my strength is, in the lyrical and introspective domaine. Many times it felt like I was playing with a symphony orchestra due to the dynamic color changes and textures, set up by Gil. He was always there in a supportive roll, ever listening and responding. Gil plays in a way that is comparable to the interesting arrangements he has done for people like Milton Nascimento, Pat Metheny, and so many others. I always felt inspired to reach for someting beyond my normal fare while playing on this project. I am very proud of this recording, and I look forward to performing the music in a live setting one day. Bob Mintzer
