CD Reviews

Interesting!

"This is one of Bob James' supplemental CD's in his discography. This album comprises ten selections (the majority of which are remixes)of music from the TV series "TAXI". It is in "theme and variation" form, with the theme appearing last. The individual variations take their character from portions of the theme itself. Bob is able to get away with this due to his having a Masters in composition. "Hello Nardo" (variation 6) contains references to both "Shamboozie" and "Janus" (see HANDS DOWN). It is the CD's best track. Some of the luminary musicians on this CD include Tom Scott, Michael Brecker, Eric Gale, Gary King, Dave Friedman, and the late Mike Lawrence. Also present is the familliar recorder work of George Marge. The TV version is here in full along with the ending salutation (Good Night, Mr. Walters") ("Groan")."
1 of my favorite Bob James albums

"Bob James is truly the man. He's one of my favorite artists and piano players I grew up in the interest of Jazz. This 1 interests me while hearing the theme song to the TV Show "Taxi" (which I loved to watch and it's truly a great show). Ev'rytime I hear "Angela", it reminds me of my dreams, my hopes, my love for music, get a groove on or something, all of the above.

As to put it this way, the entire album is still good and all the way thru, each and ev'ry 1 of them. Most of them I play on my trumpet or which I practice on or dreaming to arrange or produce someday gets me on.

If u ever listen 2 his previous albums i.e. Touchdown, One, Two, Three, Bj 4 (Reis), Heads (Reis), etc., u'll feel a difference and how why it's being played in radios today all 'round and being sampled in R&B, hip-hop and Gospel. 'specially pop.

I actually adored the man as long I can remember 'cuz he's truly one of my heroes eva 'cuz he's sure play and still is bad, lemme say the baddest.

This is the 1st album I introduced by Bob James and it's still on my music player on a regular basis which I can imagine. Luv ev'ry minute of it and recommend all of his other albums as possible. Treat urself 2 this 1, and checkout my main artist eva Mr. Ronny Jordan and checkout others like Barry White, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Grover, The Crusaders, Donald Byrd, George Benson, Chuck Mangione, and others."
