CD ReviewsBrilliant! 04/24/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This isn't a solo Barbara Dickson album, but the cast recording to Willy Russell's show "Blood Brothers." Barbara created the role of Mrs. Johnstone in the production, winning the Olivier Award (the U.K. equivalent to the Tony) as best actress in a musical. She's stunning here, playing the mother of doomed twins. The score is rich and melodic, although this recording is a bit folkier-sounding than the later discs with Petula Clark, Kiki Dee and Stephanie Lawrence. Still, this is definitive recording of the show, with Dickson's heartbreaking version of "Tell Me It's Not True" a true showstopper." The first and the best J. A.
