Bleu Jackson started his career as a guitarist in the mid 1960 s and by the late 60 s had graduated to the gritty R&B Chitlin-Circuit . He began writing songs and moved to Nashville in 1972, where he started working as an assistant engineer at Starday/King Records Nashville Recording Studios, working on sessions with James Booker, Johnny Halliday, The Gonzo Band, Earl Gaines and Johnny Jones. Bleu also played in a group that backed Towns Van Zandt and Guy Clark among others.
