Synopsis

Album Description
Less than twelve months after their stunning full-length debut, Day One, and having already sold out a national headline tour to coincide with their current single 'Silhouettic', BIRDS OF TOKYO are ready to present their breathtaking sophomore album, UNIVERSES. UNIVERSES was independently recorded and produced in Australia by the band and mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, The Cure, Pearl Jam) in North Hollywood, giving the album an incredibly unique depth. The initial pressing of UNIVERSES will include a featuring behind the scenes recordings and making-of footage for the video clips of both 'Silhouettic' and the soon to be released 'Broken Bones'.

I agree with Michael on this disc
When I first put it in the player,I instantly realized this is special
So now I am not so surprised that the discs are so hard to find as a swap
track 5 nearly made me drice off the road it is so brilliant
The voices are perfect and harmonious, lyrics are surprisingly fresh
I want more from this band

CD Reviews

An Excellent Album

"Please, do yourself a favor and pretend the other review on this page doesn't exist. It is written by a pretentious music snob who has mistaken his personal opinion for fact and wishes to mislead you.

The biggest reason I like this band is for the singer, he is a brilliant writer of both melodies and lyrics. He stands out because he does things I don't expect, and writes words that sometimes go places I didn't think they would. Meaning he's less predictable than a good deal of songwriters, he's quite diverse. One moment poetic, the next, pure straight-forward blunt rock.

Which is not to discredit the other band members. This is no prog or revolutionary band, but it is a band of people who know what they're doing and clearly have some fun with it. Each song, for the most part, has it's own flavor. I never felt like it was repeating itself. My favorite track, I believe, would have to be "Broken Bones", which was the first song I heard by them. It's a perfect opener, and a good example of what to expect, in general. Look it up on Youtube, they did a video. It even features a second song, which is very much worth hearing as well.

In summary; if you want a good, honest to god, diverse album with well written songs and interesting lyrics? Yes, this is an excellent album. I don't know what that other guy's problem is. Especially since he is quite fond of The Thermals. I like the Thermals, too, from what I know, but I see no reason to tout them as having an amazing album, and then insult this band's work. Neither are revolutionary, but, they both deserve more credit than he gave this band.

Nearly perfect, and I'm giving it full stars to counter that other review."
