Delta Blues For The New Century

"I played in a band with Billy back in 1973. At that time he had only been playing guitar for about two years and he was smokin'. Here he is after twenty seven years of giggin' in the smokey bars and honky-tonks around the Mississippi Delta and you can hear the heartache and frustration in every note he sings or plays. He starts off with "Another Blues Singer". You might remember this from the "Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute". Well, here it is with Billy's own heartfelt tribute to blues singers the have gone on to their reward, incuding his Dad and Kevin Mills ( his bass player and right arm for 25 years). The personal pain in his playing shines through on this one. Billy's tender side shows up on "Peace Of Mind" a slow song with a 50's feel. "Walnut Street" has a "live" feel, as he tells about the current music scene in Greenville,Mississippi where at the Walnut Street Bait Shop you are likely to hear Billy "cuttin' heads" with his well worn guitar on stage with any number of local and national celebrities such as Little David, John Horton, Willie Foster, or Eden and Boogaloo Ames.I've been there to witness when the "magic" happens, and Billy captures a little of that here. My personal favorite is "Dust Me Off". Billy REALLY rocks on this song about who's the boss. " Highway 82 Blues " lets him stretch out on a slow blues about the highway that runs through his and B.B.King's hometown of Indianola, Mississippi , where Billy has opened for B.B.'s annual home- coming for as long as I can remember. If you want a taste of Blues with a little spice then I recommend this one."

"I'm a huge Stevie Ray fan and I never thought I would ever be impressed by another guitar player but Billy is "The Blues Man". He is the most exciting guitar player I have ever heard and if you don't think so, well your just not with it. All I want to know is, when the next Album is due?"
