"Surely the whole music arena appreciates the Drifters' contribution in the rhythm and blues genre. The sole surviving 1953 original member turns introspective in this soulful gospel album. He was in fact singing gospel music when he met Drifters' organizer Clyde McPhatter. While featuring some great original songs, the album has some popular remakes including one of Sam Cooke's classic "A Change Gonna Come". Pinkney's lead on "That Same Old Candle Light", popular at his live R&B shows, ends with a rousing rendition of "Blessed Assurance".This CD is a must for gospel and crossover collections."
