CD Reviews

Great Blues Rock
10/31/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bill Perry is back to form on this latest release with more great blues rock and more straight up, back-to-basics Bill Perry than the last album. The Richie Havens cover of the Stones' "No Expectations" is a cool surprise. Also love "Honey Pie". Check this one out!"
GREAT BLUES

"This CD again doesn't reinvent the wheel ( if it aint broke, why fix it) and sticks to fairly straight forward blues stylings. BILL PERRY has a great voice and writes good tunes. The lyrics are very good and as most of the songs are originals, that is quite a surprise. Most Blues cliche's get such a workout these days, that originality must be highly prized. The instrumental is superb, showing what an accomplished guitarist this man is. On most other tunes he plays memorable but not flashy solos. The tone varies from traditional to almost heavy electric blues and PERRY sounds at home in either style.
If you like the guitar and the blues, you won't be dissapointed."
Blues at its Best

"If you are a fan of The Blues, then Bill Perry's music is a must in your CD collection. "Crazy Kind of Life" arrived in my mailbox a week after his sad, untimely death on July 17, 2007, and to Perry fans it encapsulates some of the best he had to give us. With each of his CDs he just seemed to get better and better, more at ease with who he was. There is no doubt at all what Bill is about on this CD. I heard Bill play a lot of music and it didn't matter to me which song it was because all I could ever hear was the perfection and beauty of his fingers wailing on those guitar strings. Listen to this Cd and you'll hear the same. Bill was a friend for almost three decades and I can't believe I'll never be at the receiving end of one of his boyish pranks again. But he left his music and I cherish every note. Hopefully his son Aaron will gift us with a Best of Bill Perry collection some day. No one, not even Hendrix, played a blues guitar with more depth of soul than Bill Perry. I like to think he's jamming with Hendrix in heaven as I type...Rest in peace, Bro."
