"This is yet one more release purporting to include "all" of someone's hits - and then proceeds to overlook these 4 legitimate entries from his King label offerings - Leaps And Bounds Part 1 [# 13 R&B in 1958], Rainbow Riot Part 1 [# 15 R&B in 1959], Monster Party [# 27 R&B in 1959] and Yocky Dock Part 1 [# 30 R&B in 1959] - while at the same time including 6 that were not hits by any definition of the word, i.e., tracks 1 to 4, 7 and 8 (nor were they even the flipsides of any of his hits). Each is from an album.
A much better option would be the King Records release 28 Big Ones, although in that instance there are no liner notes at all whereas this one does contain a single page of background information, and the sound quality is equally as good. And it certainly would have rated 5 stars with the simple inclusion (in place of some of those album cuts) of those 4 missing hits plus the 1961 overdubbed version of Honky Tonk Part 2, also for the King label, which reached # 57 Billboard Hot 100 that February."

"I got this for my dad as he loved this mans music and got to meet him when he came to Detroit at Dummy Georges in the 1980's. One or two classics from those mellow albums sound a bit wobbly as I guess the tapes they used were not in the greatest shape but unless you can find those LP's and have them transfered this is all thats available.
Other than that it sounds pretty good."

"Having seen Bill Doggett in concert in South Texas in 1956, when he did several encores of Honky Tonk, I've always liked his sound. This CD brings it all back. Great."

"I grew up listening to Bill Doggett on 45rpm records from my parents record collection. I was glad to locate this on cd, because it brought back memories of my childhood and my father who has since pass on."
