CD Reviews

Possibly the best music album of all time!!
04/08/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Even though my collection of albums / cds, that amounts to about 300, range from Def Leppard, Chris Rea, Deacon Blue, Everything But the Girl, AC/DC, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, George Benson, Enya, Chris Isaak, Del Amitri, Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, and zillions more...without a doubt this was (unfortunately was!)the most complete pop/new wave group during my 40 year lifetime. Even my 12 and 13 year olds love their sound. Very distinctive sound with a classic voice, Creeping.. is the most enjoyable sounding collection of stories put to some great melodies with impeccable use of piano, guitar, bass ,and drums. Ingenious lyrics compliment the type of melodies that stay in your head forever. Classic tracks are "Faith Healer", "European Rain" (which actually got some air time!!), the wonderfully eerie yet goose bump generating "Monday" (dare I say I of the greatest songs of all time!), "Wishing Time", and the album ends with a great song about home - "Where do you live". Still amazes me how this group got away unnoticed. Maybe they were too good for their time. Sophistication in music was not "cool" at that time. The critics actually loved their sound. A great shame to see such talented fellas who didn't record a single weak track leave the scene so early and with such little recognition. I actually had no idea that they had released their album "Satelittes" until I was handed a copy of it by a DJ friend of mine while I was living in California. His collection of albums was very impressive but he had not heard as pure a sound as The Big Dish. We miss you."
