Crazy stereo antics

"Another entry in the RCA stereo action series of late 50s and early 60s, Mr. Green and orchestra do their best with giving life to these old standards and at presenting some new tunes as well. The arrangements are refreshingly voiced and the stereo panning adds some sea-sickness to the entire presentation. These Spanish import CDs are great to have. They allow us to look back at the craziness of the "new" fad of stereo. These recordings pushed the limits of not only stereo separation, but also the creativity of the arranger in combining as many unusually colored instrumental voices into this wider-open sound."

"I recommend everything in the Stereo Action series. It's just a drag to buy it on overpriced CD when the records are very find-able for relatively cheap. If you have a turntable and the motivation, hit your local used record store and expect to pay $4-10 for these. The original vinyl is high-quality, and the die-cut sleeves are fantastic. Stereo Action LP's will make even a mediocre hi-fi setup sound fantastic. The highlight of this series, of course, is Latin-Esque by Esquivel. Of the five I've owned, I'd put Esquivel at #1 and Bernie Green at #3. I wish I could tell you #2, but I can't remember right now..."
