The sound of old friends

"I just picked up this CD a short time age. It sounds like four old friends having a good time doing what each had devoted their whole lives to doing. This recording was made some 30 years after their first endeavors. The performance has Benny and Lionel Hampton trading licks with aplomb and some really fun, kicking fills by Gene Krupa. I'm a big Teddy Wilson fan, and he doesn't seem to participate in the foreground as much as I'd like on this disc.
About the sound quality. The overall sound is clear and lively, but the final EQ is low-end deficient and high-end excessive. It's still a pleasure after countless hours of listening to pre-1940's recordings.
This would be a great addition to your base B.G. collection"
