Il pianto e il riso delle quattro stagioni dell'anno per la morte, esultazione e coronazione di Maria Assunta in Cielo (1731) is the second to last of the four oratorios by Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739). As a member of the Venetian aristocracy he didnt have to consider the musical conventions as much as his professional contemporaries. Thanks to an unconventional style he is considered one of the most interesting of Italian baroque composers. Since making his directing debut in 1987, Roberto Zarpellon, Ensemble Lorenzo da Ponte founder, has been heard to conduct in Europe, the US and Japan.
