Almost Flawless

"
I picked Popdropper up on the strength of the unusual single "Slipstream" which I heard just once on Radio Free Hawaii, and have loved it ever since. The album is a remarkable combination of melody and energy, infused with an introspection that grows more powerful with each listen.

Of the two thousand or so albums I own, this one ranks in the top ten. Somehow this unknown gem encompasses what made early 90's 'alternative' rock so good.

They don't get much better.

Jem LIVES!

"I bought this album after tracking down anything that was performed by the fantastic Britta Phillips. For those that don't know (or are too young), Britta was the singing voice of "Jem" in the 80s cartoon of the same name. Listening to this album is eerie for fans of that series, as it's almost like hearing Jem singing from beyond the grave. It's also great to hear Britta singing real, full songs, not just 1 minute song "clips" like those from the Jem series. Haunting and beautiful, sometimes hard and driving, what Jem and the Holograms may have sounded like as a real group. I give this album 4 stars, taking away one star for the simple fact that Britta doesn't sing lead on ALL of the songs."
