Synopsis

Album Description
Bellini`s Due Messi Catanesi are his first two masses, written in 1818 in his hometown Catania when he was a boy. The works were part of Bellini`s application to study at the conservatory in Naples: he was accepted in 1819. The works occupy an important position in his artistic and personal development but are not as well known as the two Neapolitan masses. The masses are sung by Cinzia Forte (first soprano), Paoletta Marrocu (second soprano), Stefano Ferrari (tenor) and Lorenzo Regazzo (bass), accompanied by the orchestra and choir of the Accademia I Filarmonici and conducted by Maurizio Ciampi. The two works were recorded in Pompeii in 1998. Nuova Era. 2008.
