CD Reviews

One of the best Jazz vocalist CD's i've ever heard!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm so happy I found Beat Kaestli and I'm even happier that I bought this album from Chesky Records. This album is a true beauty. Certain aspects of this recording are immediately inviting and bear mentioning. First, is the audio quality. This is Kaestli's debut for Chesky Records, and the label goes out of its way to make sure its albums have a pristine sound. While Chesky might be marketing to audiophiles--since this is an SACD Multichannel Hybrid Disc--the music is inviting enough to appeal to a broad audience, regardless of their audio gear. Once you get past the recording technology, you arrive at Kaestli's voice. His unpretentious tenor simply glides and floats over the band throughout these nine performances. His voice is truly beautiful and is so pervasive that at times it almost seems like time stands still.

This CD just made it to #23 on the Roots Music Chart. I certainly hope it goes higher, because this is one of the best Jazz Vocalist CD's I have heard in a long time. This album is a sure buy for anyone who appreciates the American Songbook sung by an incredible tenor voice."
